Applicable only for vehicles registered after 1 March 2023.

All new Kia passenger vehicles are provided with a new vehicle warranty that covers you for any manufacturing or assembly defects (see exclusions or exceptions specified in the terms and conditions). Your authorised Kia dealer will take care of all necessary repairs within a reasonable time after delivery of the vehicle, and during normal business hours. What’s more, we guarantee any replacements will only be made using genuine Kia parts, to correct any legitimate fault covered by this warranty without charge to you.

The Kia new vehicle warranty coverage is applicable to the vehicle and is transferable between vehicle owners and subject to the terms and conditions of the Warranty period(s).

The Warranty coverage periods applicable by drivetrain are defined below:

Full EV - 3 years or 100,000kms + 2 years or 50,000km (Total 5 years or 150,000km – whichever occurs first)

Hybrid (HEV and PHEV) - 3 years or 100,000kms + 4 years or 50,000km (Total 7 years or 150,000km – whichever occurs first)

ICE (Gasoline and Diesel) – 3 years or 100,000kms + 2 years or 50,000km (Total 5 years or 150,000km – whichever occurs first)

High Voltage Battery (HVB) Warranty

All new Kia vehicles that are powered by a high-voltage drive battery are provided with an additional warranty that covers components found in the drive battery case.

EV, HEV and PHEV – 3-Years or 100,000kms + 5 Years or 60,000kms (8 Years or 160,000kms – Whichever comes first)

Warranty Programme Terms, Conditions and Exclusions

1: The Warranty Period

The Kia new vehicle Warranty is divided into various periods. The start date for all coverage commences on the date the vehicle is first delivered to the customer or the first date of registration, whichever occurs first and ends at the expiration of the Standard Coverage or other Coverage specified.

(a) Standard Coverage

The standard WARRANTY PERIOD is 36 months or 100,000kms (whichever occurs first) excluding the exclusions or exceptions specified on this website and in the “Warranty and Maintenance booklet”.

(b) Extended Warranty:

Upon expiration of the standard Warranty Period of 3 Years or 100,000kms (whichever occurs first), the Extended Warranty coverage begins.

Extended Warranty coverage is only valid when the vehicle has been continuously maintained by an authorized Kia dealer, in accordance with the service requirements outlined in the owner’s manual. It excludes items listed under 'Exclusions or Exceptions' and ‘What is not covered’

(c) Corrosion Coverage:

Refers to any body sheet metal panel that rusts-through due to corrosion is covered for the standard warranty period.

(d) Kia Service Part Warranty:

Kia warrants that Genuine Kia service parts originally installed or replaced at the owners cost after the vehicle warranty had expired, are free from defects in material and workmanship and are covered for a 12-month / 20,000 km period, whichever occurs first.

(e) High Voltage Drive Battery (HVB) Warranty

The HVB warranty only covers components found inside the drive battery case. This warranty does not apply to any other components or items contained within the vehicle. It excludes any external harness or air conditioning components that are external to the drive battery case that lead to an internal connection within the drive battery case.

  • The items specified below are covered for periods which are different from the standard coverage.

(a) Air Conditioner Refrigerant Charge Air Condition

refrigerant charge is only covered for the first 12 months of the warranty period regardless of kilometres. Over the balance of the warranty period, refrigerant charge is covered only when replenished as part of a warranty repair.

  • (b) Tyres
    Tyres are not covered by Kia. If warranty service for a tyre is required, please present the unserviceable tyre to the local representative or tyre manufacturer for advice.
  • (c) 12-volt Batteries
    The 12-volt battery in your vehicle is covered for the first 12 months of the warranty period regardless of the kilometres.

The items specified below are not covered:

  • Misuse of the Kia vehicle such as (but not limited to) driving over curbs, overloading, racing etc (proper usage is described in your Owner’s Manual)
  • Cost of vehicle repairs prior to Kia involvement.
  • Accidents such as collision, fire, theft, riot.
  • Damage resulting from alteration, modification, tampering with the manufacturer's specification or the installation of non-standard equipment or failure to use Genuine Kia Parts.
  • Damage or surface corrosion from the environment such as acid rain, airborne fallout (chemicals, tree sap etc), salt, road hazards, hail, wind, storm, lightning and other acts of God.
  • Cosmetic conditions or surface corrosion from stone chips or scratches in the paint.
  • Lack of proper maintenance as described on the following pages.
  • Improper maintenance or the use of other than the specified fuel, oil or lubricants recommended in your Owner’s Manual. Where fuel contamination has occurred, the fuel filter will require replacement, at the owner's cost.
  • Normal wear, tear or deterioration such as decolouration, fading, deformation.
  • Surface corrosion on any part other than the body sheet metal panels forming the exterior appearance of a Kia Vehicle.
  • Normal maintenance service such as engine tune-up, replenishment or replacement of oil, fluids, wiper blades, drive belts, filters, brake & clutch linings, spark plugs, electric bulbs, gaskets, brake rotors, as a result of normal wear and tear.
  • Various adjustments such as brake and clutch adjustment, adjustment of headlamps, wheel alignment, balancing (and rotation where specified) and engine adjustments.
  • Maintenance services described as "Scheduled Maintenance Service", "Owner Maintenance Service" or "Appearance Care" in your Owner’s Manual.
  • Any damage resulting from the use of non-genuine Kia parts.
  • Any defects caused by repair or replacement by other than an authorised Kia dealer.
  • Damage or failure caused by repairs to vehicles involved in accidents which have not been repaired to acceptable industry standards.
  • Adjustments to body panels, squeaks and rattles are a period of 3 months from the date of first registration.
  • Where a vehicle has been de-registered as a result of a major accident or other serious damage the Kia Factory Warranty will be voided.
  • Failures resulting from lack of performance of proper maintenance services as specified in the Owner’s Manual.
  • Any vehicle on which the odometer has been altered or on which the actual mileage cannot be readily determined.
  • Incidental or consequential damages such as loss of use of the vehicle, inconvenience or commercial loss where the vehicle is used for the purpose of a business.

Exclusions under the Extended Warranty Period:
The following exclusions are in addition to those listed previously, however they relate to the specific Extended Warranty coverage period(s).

  • Body panels, lights, glass and paintwork, trim upholstery, cosmetic and any body related items including but not limited to door and door lock linkages.
  • 12-volt batteries, shock absorbers, exhaust system, steering components, clutch components, tyres, brake components, wheel bearings, seat belts, audio and infotainment, global positioning systems and air conditioning components.

Warranty Programme Terms, Conditions and Exclusions

FAQs:

How long is my vehicle covered for?

All new Kia vehicles come with standard warranty coverage of *3-Years or 100,000kms. Coverage is extendable by up to 2 years / 50,000km (ICE), 4 years / 50,000km (HEV and PHEV) or 5 years / 60,000 (High Voltage Batter) provided the vehicle has been and continues to be serviced by an authorised Kia dealer and according to the service schedule.

Do I have to service my vehicle with an authorised Kia dealer?

In order for any extended warranty coverage to remain valid, the vehicle MUST be continuously maintained by an authorised Kia dealer in accordance with the maintenance requirements within the Owners Manual.

What will happen if I miss a scheduled service?

Your vehicles maintenance schedule (refer Owners Manual) is designed to ensure the vehicle remains in optimum condition. Therefore, failing to service your vehicle on time and / or mileage (whichever occurs first) may impact the vehicles comprehensive warranty and / or specific component longevity. – For more information, please speak to your dealer.

I own a used Kia vehicle; is it still covered under warranty?

To confirm any remaining coverage, please contact your nearest Kia dealer.

What is the purpose of the 1500km/3-month check?

The free 1,500km check is a free peace of mind inspection carried out by any authorised Kia dealer to ensure the vehicle is operating as designed and to address any concerns that may have arisen since taking delivery of the vehicle. 

Does the warranty cover scheduled servicing costs?

Routine servicing costs are not included as a part of the new Kia warranty programme. To discuss requirements and costs, please contact the dealer directly.

Is my HEV or PHEV classed as an EV?

HEV and PHEV vehicles are classed as an internal combustion vehicle (ICE) due to the combination of a high-voltage battery and combustion engine.

Will I get a loan vehicle?

For routine service bookings, loan vehicles* can be provided subject to availability and / or daily fee and should be requested at the time of booking. If your vehicle is subject to repair under warranty, please discuss your options with the repairing dealer directly.

I am having an issue with my vehicle; who should I contact?

If your vehicle is drivable but experiencing issues: Please contact your nearest Kia dealer to arrange for the vehicle to be inspected.

*In an emergency, please call 111 immediately.

Does Kia offer a warranty on parts and workmanship for repairs not covered under Warranty?

Genuine Kia parts and workmanship are covered for either 12 months or 20,000kms (whichever comes first) from the date of the repair.

Does the High Voltage Battery (HVB) warranty cover battery degradation?

The High Voltage Battery (HVB) warranty covers any failure of a component found inside the High Voltage Battery drive battery case that is directly related to a manufacturing defect.

Is my vehicles warranty transferrable?

The vehicle retains warranty coverage regardless of changes in ownership, however remains subject to the terms outlined in the Warranty Programme Terms, Conditions and Exclusions.

Are Tyres covered by Kia?

Tyres are not covered by Kia Warranty. If warranty service for a tyre is required, please present the unserviceable tyre to the local representative or tyre manufacturer for advice. For assistance with a tyre related concerns, please contact the relevant brand or supplier directly.

I purchased my vehicle before March 1st 2023, how long is my car covered for?

Vehicles registered before 1/03/2023 are covered under Kia’s 5-year or 100,000kms (whichever comes first) warranty programme. For more information, please refer to the Warranty and Maintenance booklet.

Does my car come with a free service plan?

Free service plans are a promotional item provided on specific models only. The best way to confirm whether your vehicle included a free service plan is to check the vehicle sale and purchase agreement signed at the time of purchase and / or to contact the selling dealer directly.

What if I’m late for my service, will that affect my service plan?

Yes. Service plans are designed to cover “Scheduled services” which means that presenting your vehicle late by distance or time may impact your entitlements as well as your new vehicle Warranty.

My car didn’t come with a free service plan, can I buy one?

Yes. Service plans and plan extensions can be purchased via any authorised Kia dealer. To enquire about pricing and to order, please contact your dealer directly.

Does the service plan include WOF and Rego?

No. Service plans cover scheduled service items and labour only and do not include any additional costs for items not listed in the service schedule as defined within the Owners Manual, such as WOF inspection or registration renewal.
